The Wines:
Trevelen Farm Great South Riesling 2014
Been a big fan of John’s wines for some time, his Riesling is outstanding, it’s a bit leaner and more citrusy, but packs a lot flavour , power and amazing acidity. Fresh oysters with this one!!!
Marq Wild Ferment Margaret River Chardonnay 2014
This wine has a nose of white peach and grapefruit with notable flintiness, palate tight and intense, with lemon curd and white peach with hint of cashew, with great length. Goes well with Salmon, Kingfish, Poultry and Pork.
Bellbrae Longboard Chardonnay 2015
Recently tried these wines and was impressed by their varietal purity, this wine says Sauvignon Blanc as soon as you smell it cut grass, asparagrass and mineral edge. Has a hint NZ like on the nose, but super crunchy and fresh on the palate and great length. Very easy to drink but not simple.
AT Richardson Chockstone Shiraz 2012
Great Shiraz this one and you should try it over a period of time because it has some nice layers of flavour that emerge as you drink it. Nice and ripe and slightly brambly on the nose, Then the palate is chock full of intense black fruits, hint of dark chocolate, and violets, amazing wine, great oak and acid integration.
Granite Hills Pinot Noir 2011
Great little wine and great little winery, I recently revisited them in the Macedon Ranges and was impressed by all the wines and the way they go about making them and all traditional small batch fermentation and small barrel oak maturation – Handmade. This wine shows more savory notes, possibly because it’s got extra years on it compared to the other wines in the pack, its lighter bodied, but full of red fruits, nice intensity, great hint of spice with well balanced tannins and just love the acidity long but subtle. Drink now, but this wine should age well.
Haan Classic Merlot Cabernet 2013
Lover this wine and got sucked in by the aromas of cigar box and cedar spice when first was showed it earlier in the year. The palate is full dark berry fruits, black cherry and plums on the palate. Then with the subtle savouriness of the Cabernet Franc and the wonderful length of the fine grain tannins. Excellent, not an everyday blend you would in Australia but this is worth adding to this pack for that alone.
A hop forward American style pale ale has already gained a large amount of attention. Its first tasting at Geelong’s Great Australian Beer Festival, only one day after rolling off the bottling line, saw it take out the People’s Choice Award.
Hawkers Saison
Refreshing, effervescent, cloudy-golden and complex, this is our take on the traditional Wallonian Saison.
Hawkers Pilsner
Not the usual watered down industrial lager, this beer is clean, refreshing but never boring. Robust, full-bodied malt character at the beginning with an assertive bitter finish.
Hawkers IPA
Hops, and lots of them! Bitterness with tropical, citrusy and piney notes that is balanced by a malty backbone.
3 Ravens 55 American Pale Ale
First brewed on 3 Raven's 5th Birthday. Five assertive hops meet a blend of barley, corn, wheat, oats and rye. Floral aromatics lead to a structured maltiness and clean finish. Traditional bottle conditioning naturally carbonates this beer and helps add to its complexity.
3 Ravens Golden Altbier
3 Ravens Golden is a German style ale. Soft and generously bodied, it is a beer that showcases fruity notes and a smooth lingering maltiness. The addition of Saaz hops from Bohemia adds a balancing medium bitterness and spicy aroma. Traditional bottle conditioning naturally carbonates this beer and helps add to its complexity.
3 Ravens English Extra Special Bitter
3 Ravens English is a classic place ale in the British tradition. Fuggle & Golding hops offer earthy, spicy aromas and stalwart bitterness, whilst floor-malted Maris Otter barley and traditional crystal malts gently underpin this companionable drop. Traditional bottle conditioning naturally carbonates this beer and helps add to its complexity.
3 Ravens White Witbier
3 Ravens White Witbier is an exotic ale, based on traditional Belgian Witbier. Sweet barley malt is balanced with tart wheat and spiced with coriander & citrus peel, resulting in a rich yet quenching brew. Traditional bottle conditioning naturally carbonates this beer and helps add to its complexity.
