From the Land of Don Quixote

About the Wine Maker

On March 20 1954, the Jesús del Perdón Cooperative was founded, the result of the need of a group of 102 wine growers in the Castilla-La Mancha area to develop and market products derived from their vineyards and to defend themselves from the speculation they were subjected to.

Castilla-La Mancha is a large region which lies south and east of the Spanish capital Madrid. Although famous for its Manchego cheese and Don Quixote, Castilla-La Mancha also has a deep cultural history here; scattered throughout the region are various World Heritage sites, including medieval castles, Stone Age rock paintings, and the historic cities of Toledo and Cuenca.

The vineyards of the Jesus del Perdon cooperative are situated on the best land, stretching out along the course of the river Guadiana. These waters, coupled with the calcareous soils, mean they have special geological and microclimate conditions, which are natural and very favourable for growing grapes.

In the field of organic farming, this cooperative pioneered the development and production of organic wine. In addition to certificates endorsing them at a European level for the production of organic wine, they also have the necessary certification for organic wine marketing worldwide.

About the Wine

This wine is the result of the careful production of strictly selected grapes from our vineyards covered by organic farming regulations. It is 85% Tempranillo and 15% Syrah. They were harvested in the last week of August and first week of September.

Production involved seven days of maceration with fermentation at controlled temperature.

This has resulted in a wine with cherry colour with purple tones, characteristic aromas with hints of ripe berries and wild red fruit.Plenty of pepper and spice in the mouth, over the top of some sappy, red fruit. Balanced with some tangy acid and a good finish.

Best matched with blue fish, vegetables, and stews. Serve at 14-16 º C.

Enjoy:)
