About the Wine Maker

Marqués de Vitoria is a traditional Rioja winery, which although being a part of the massive Faustino group, which owns several wineries  in the Rioja region, Marqués de Vitoria slips under the guard when compared with some of the more commercial brands, making them excellent value for money. 

Created in the late 19th century by the Marquis of Vitoria, the Bodegas has a name eponymous of a city anciently known as Gasteiz in Basque, which became Vitoria in 1181  and it’s now the region’s capital.

Bodegas Marqués de Vitoria has become one of the landmarks of the plains of the Alavese region, located in Oyón, a small village north of Logroño, in the south of the Álava region. The bodegas possesses an ocean of vineyards from which they craft numerous wines: Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva, ttheir organic wine  “Ecco”, an exclusively old vines made wine called “Original”, a white Rioja made with 100% Viura and a 100% Tempranillo Rosé.

About the Wine

Bodegas Marques de Vitoria Ecco is made from 100% organically grown Tempranillo grapes.  With an intense beautiful cherry color with violet hues, it is fresh, lively and vibrant, whilst retaining perfect balance. Its aroma is powerful with fruity notes of strawberries and raspberries against a liquorice background. It has an elegant and smooth palate. Pair with grilled meats or duck breast, roast pheasant with grapes, or brie and camembert cheese.
